Crystal Barbato’s Swede obsession began as a kid when her aunt first introduced her to the glitz and glam of world-conquering supergroup ABBA. Years later, a chance encounter with the film Muriel’s Wedding affirmed her love for those iconic chart-toppers. She’d soon be exposed to a veritable smorgasbord of Swedish music, from The Cardigans to Kent to Jens Lekman, becoming rapidly drawn into the orbit of sweetly romantic Nordic sounds. Emboldened by a trip to Jonkoping, along with her passionate conversations about music with friend Amanda, Crystal launched Swedes are Sweet as a blog focusing on new and classic bands from Sweden and other Scandinavian lands.
