The Tallest Man on Earth – The Dreamer
Nina Persson – Clip Your Wings
Most of you know my obsession with Lykke Li and my connection to her music. But before Lykke came Nina Persson, whose music has healed many broken hearts and gotten me through, for lack of a better word, a lot of shit. Tonight, I am seeing her again and I couldn’t be more excited.
Over the years, through the Cardigans, A Camp and her recent solo album she has touched me with her lyrics and music. Below is “Clip Your Wings,” my current favorite song by her. This song holds more meaning to me than anyone could imagine. I probably listen to it and sing it loudly on a daily basis. Her lyrics are always full of so much heart and realism. My best friend always reminds me that in relationships you always need to follow the rule that no matter what, if that person were to go away, that deep down you know you’ll be okay. This song is the epitome of that. So listen, read the lyrics, watch the bird fly and lastly enjoy.
And if you don’t get your fix or you just simply want to hear more, click here for more Nina in my ode to her that I wrote a few months back.
Vote for my Cousin Paul Barbato!
Lovers – Luxury
Thank you to my friend Gerald for bringing me out of my blogging slumber and introducing me to Lovers. Electro pop Tuesday instead of Friday. Though their music is about a year old, I thought I’d now give you guys the heads up. Enjoy!
Blue Swede – Hooked on a Feeling
Before David Hasselhoff snowboarded in a fur suit down a mountain and performed really bad other green screen scenes like motorcycle riding and flying through the air came Blue Swede who covered “Hooked on a Feeling” in 1973. Giving this Swedish group a number 1 hit on American charts.
Iamamiwhoami – Chasing Kites
I seriously don’t know what to expect every time Iamamiwhoami releases a song. But all I know is the only thing I dislike is typing out their name out of fear of getting it wrong. They haven’t disappointed me yet and I anticipate more greatness to come. They definitely will be in my top 10 this year! Their latest song “Chasing Kites” is a pure pop dance heaven. I was going to save it for electro pop Friday but I just can’t wait.
Summer Heart – Sleep
Just like their name, Summer Heart always feels you with thoughts of summer. Which is perfect as I visit California this week where its eternally summer. I really wish I could “Sleep all day” just like the song.
Elin Ruth – The Storm
I really like a good blues song ands it’s hard for me to find that kind of music from Sweden. But today, I bring you Elin Ruth (Sigvardsson) a singer-songwriter from Småland who now is living as a New York transplant. Bluesy guitar mixed with soulful lyrics make this a treat!
Lykke Li – Just Like a Dream
I know I keep changing my favorite Lykke Li song, but tonight I am seeing her for the second time at Radio City Music Hall. I am beyond excited as she is one of the artists who has touched my heart the most over the past few years. So today I will post my current favorite Lykke song and a Lykke playlist I made on Spotify with my favorite songs.
